DONE DEAL — Rangers complete Blockbuster transfer move for left-footed star amid Vaclav Cerny to Ibrox return – He is set to make debut in Europa League qualifiers

Rangers’ pursuit of new attacking reinforcements has dominated the headlines in recent days, with supporters still dreaming of a sensational return for Vaclav Cerny.

The Czech international remains strongly admired at Ibrox after his impressive spell in Glasgow, and multiple reports have suggested Rangers have continued exploring the possibility of bringing him back this summer.

However, any deal remains complicated due to financial demands and competition for his signature, leaving Derek McInnes eager to ensure his squad is strengthened regardless of whether Cerny returns.

With the new Rangers boss making no secret of his desire to recruit more quality out wide following the opening-day draw against Dundee United, the club have wasted little time delivering another attacking addition.

And while speculation over Cerny’s future continues to rumble on, Rangers have now officially secured another exciting winger capable of adding pace, creativity and directness to McInnes’ side.

The Light Blues have confirmed the signing of Daisuke Yokota from Hannover 96 on a three-year contract, with the club holding the option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.

The 26-year-old arrives at Ibrox in a deal worth around £2.75 million, becoming another significant addition as Rangers continue reshaping the squad ahead of a demanding campaign.

Yokota’s arrival addresses one of McInnes’ biggest priorities after the recent departures of Oliver Antman and Nedim Bajrami, both of whom left Rangers during the current transfer window.

The Japanese international is a natural right winger and is expected to provide exactly the type of pace and attacking threat McInnes publicly admitted his side needed following the draw at Tannadice.

There is even a possibility that Yokota could make his competitive debut sooner than expected.

Rangers have until 24 hours before kick-off to register players for Thursday night’s Europa League qualifying clash against Jagiellonia Bialystok, meaning the winger could potentially be available if all paperwork is completed in time.

Speaking after completing his move, Yokota said:

«”I’m really excited to be joining Rangers. This is a massive club with a fantastic history, passionate supporters and high ambitions so it’s a proud moment for me.»

«”My aim is to help the team achieve success this season, and I hope we can create some special memories together. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates, the staff and getting started.”»

McInnes believes the new arrival brings exactly the qualities Rangers have been searching for.

He said:

«”We are really pleased to bring Daisuke to the club. He is a player we have been aware of for some time, and he brings qualities that we believe will really strengthen our attacking options.»

«”At 26, he has gained valuable experience across a number of different leagues in Europe. He is quick, direct and has the ability to make things happen in the final third.»

«”We are continuing to strengthen the squad in key areas, and I am looking forward to welcoming Daisuke to Rangers and working with him.”»

Importantly for Rangers supporters, Yokota’s arrival is not expected to end the club’s search for another winger.

McInnes has repeatedly stressed that further additions are required before the transfer window closes, with reports continuing to link Rangers to players including Vaclav Cerny and several other wide attackers.

For now, though, the Light Blues have finally landed the first of the attacking reinforcements their manager demanded—and if more deals follow before deadline day, Rangers’ front line could look very different by the time the season reaches full speed.
