NafisaLeeds United have continued reshaping their squad this summer, with departures becoming just as important as new arrivals as Daniel Farke prepares for another demanding Premier League campaign.
The Whites have already sanctioned several exits to trim the squad and reduce the wage bill. Pascal Struijk completed a permanent move after failing to commit his long-term future to Elland Road, while Isaac Schmidt also departed following an underwhelming spell in West Yorkshire.
Jack Harrison finally brought his lengthy transfer saga to an end by leaving Leeds, and Max Wober also exited after his contract was terminated, allowing the club to remove another high earner from the books.
Despite those departures, Leeds are still expected to be active before the transfer deadline. Joe Gelhardt has attracted strong interest from clubs across England, while Largie Ramazani’s future also remains uncertain after he failed to travel with the squad for their pre-season tour of the United States.
Leeds United confirm Charlie Crew exit
Leeds have now confirmed another outgoing deal, announcing that promising midfielder Charlie Crew has joined League Two side Walsall on a season-long loan.
The Wales youth international travelled with the first-team squad during their pre-season tour of the United States and even featured briefly in the victory over Sunderland, but the club believe regular senior football will be crucial for his development this season.
Unlike his previous loan spell at Doncaster Rovers, which was cut short after a difficult first half of the campaign, Leeds are hopeful Crew can enjoy a much more productive year at the Bescot Stadium.
The move also gives Daniel Farke the opportunity to monitor the youngster’s progress while ensuring he gains valuable first-team experience.

Crew becomes Walsall’s 11th signing of the summer as the League Two side continue strengthening ahead of the new campaign.
Head coach Lee Grant believes the midfielder will improve both the quality and mentality within his squad.
“We’ve put a lot of work in to understanding Charlie both as a player and as a character and we are certain he will boost us on both fronts. He’s shown a real maturity in our conversations.
“He has experience of a promotion in League Two as well as playing in the league above in his most recent loan spell.”
Crew could make his competitive debut almost immediately, with Walsall opening their domestic campaign against Bristol City in the Carabao Cup on Thursday night.
While Leeds supporters remain focused on major incoming deals such as James Trafford and further attacking reinforcements, the club’s hierarchy know that managing the exits will be equally important over the final weeks of the transfer window.
Loan moves such as Crew’s are viewed as part of the long-term development plan, giving promising academy players the opportunity to gain valuable senior experience before potentially returning to challenge for a place at Elland Road in the future.
