That uncertainty has now finally started to disappear.
The latest reports suggest that the player has accepted that his future lies away from Yorkshire and has agreed terms that could see him spend the entire upcoming campaign playing elsewhere.
And while supporters may have hoped there was still a possibility of seeing him back in a Leeds shirt, the latest developments suggest otherwise.
Leeds United transfer situation finally reaches a breakthrough
Leeds have been working on the departure for much of the transfer window.
The club’s priority was initially to bring in competition between the posts before allowing their existing goalkeeper to leave.
That process was completed when Leeds secured James Trafford from Manchester City in a club-record deal.
Once Trafford arrived, the writing was effectively on the wall.
The Brazilian goalkeeper had started the previous campaign as Farke’s No.1 but eventually lost his position and had not featured in a Premier League match since January.
That made a summer departure increasingly likely.
Torino subsequently emerged as the strongest destination, although Marseille attempted to intervene with a permanent proposal.
For a while, the Italian club’s move looked to have stalled.
However, Torino returned with improved terms and managed to convince the player that his future should be in Serie A.

According to the latest reports, Perri is now heading towards Torino on a loan-to-buy arrangement.
The goalkeeper is understood to have agreed personal terms for a potential permanent move, with Torino reportedly offering a three-year contract with an option for an additional season if they activate their purchase clause.
That means Perri could spend the entire 2026/27 campaign away from Leeds, with his future at Elland Road effectively dependent on what Torino decide to do next summer.
The move represents a significant change from the plans Perri had when he joined Leeds.
The Brazilian arrived from Lyon in 2025 for an initial fee of around £13.9 million and signed a four-year contract, seemingly with the expectation that he would establish himself as Leeds’ long-term goalkeeper.
Instead, his spell has ended up being considerably shorter than expected.
Leeds could make a financial loss
There is another reason why the transfer is attracting attention.
Perri’s proposed departure is unlikely to allow Leeds to immediately recover the money they spent on him.
The reported structure includes a loan fee of around £850,000, followed by an option to buy worth approximately £11.9m.
If Torino eventually activate that clause, Leeds would still be looking at a financial shortfall compared with their original investment.
However, the Whites could ultimately view the move as worthwhile if it removes Perri’s wages from the books and allows Farke to focus on building around Trafford.
There is also the possibility that a strong season in Italy could increase Perri’s market value and attract other clubs.
For now, though, the message from the latest reports is clear.
