Leeds United have officially confirmed that academy midfielder Loui Whitehead has signed his first professional contract with the club.
The 17-year-old has committed his future to the Whites by putting pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at Thorp Arch until the summer of 2028.
Whitehead enjoyed an encouraging campaign across the academy setup last season, continuing to establish himself as one of the club’s standout young midfielders.
The teenager featured 29 times in all competitions and earned valuable exposure with Scott Gardner’s Under-21 squad.
His development included a senior academy debut before going on to make four further appearances for the Under-21s as he adapted to the higher level.
Whitehead also gained important experience in the Premier League International Cup, featuring against Athletic Club B and RSC Anderlecht Futures, while also earning starts in Premier League 2 fixtures against both Liverpool and Arsenal.
Those performances have strengthened the club’s belief that he possesses the qualities required to continue progressing through Leeds United’s development system.
The Whites have increasingly shown a willingness to hand promising academy graduates opportunities to impress, and securing Whitehead’s future represents another important step in protecting one of the club’s emerging talents.
