With strong links to Rangers, and reports of interest from Celtic, the 26-year-old Portuguese forward is now weighing up his future — and the signs are pointing firmly toward a dream move to the Light Blues.
Braga exploded onto the Scottish scene after arriving at Hearts from Norwegian side Aalesund for a modest fee in 2025. In his debut season, the versatile frontman bagged 17 goals and helped push the Jambos to within a whisker of a historic league title.
His performances earned him multiple Player of the Year awards and made him one of the most sought-after talents north of the border.
Rangers have already raided Hearts successfully this window, bringing in former captain Lawrence Shankland and midfielder Cammy Devlin to link up with McInnes, who left Tynecastle to take the Ibrox reins. Why Braga Turned Down Celtic
According to multiple reports, Braga’s camp has been fully aware of Rangers’ concrete interest. While Celtic were also in the mix earlier, sources suggest Hearts have been reluctant to sell one of their prized assets to a direct rival — and Braga himself appears more drawn to the project at Rangers.
The opportunity to reunite with Shankland (with whom he formed a lethal partnership at Hearts) and work again under McInnes is a massive pull. Rangers fans have been vocal in their desire for the Portuguese star on social media, viewing him as the perfect addition to challenge for the title and make noise in Europe.
Braga has previously spoken about his ambition and willingness to take big steps in his career. With two years left on his Hearts deal and a valuation reportedly in the £8m–£10m range, a move to Ibrox would represent both a step up and a chance to chase silverware on a bigger stage.
McInnes’ Masterplan
Derek McInnes knows Braga intimately from their time together at Hearts. Bringing him to Ibrox alongside Shankland and Devlin would create an immediate core of proven, hungry players who understand the manager’s methods.
