The road back to the Premier League has been completed, but for Leeds United the real challenge is only just beginning. Survival is one objective, yet the ambition around Elland Road stretches far beyond simply staying up.

Daniel Farke and the club’s hierarchy know that every detail matters during the summer months. Recruitment remains a major talking point among supporters, while fitness levels, tactical preparation and squad chemistry are all being carefully worked on behind the scenes before competitive football returns.

Pre-season schedules are often viewed as routine exercises, but Leeds have shown in recent years that they place significant importance on facing strong opposition before the campaign begins.

Testing themselves against elite-level teams provides valuable insight into where improvements are needed and helps players adapt to the intensity required for Premier League football.

With trips abroad already arranged and several high-profile friendlies scheduled, Leeds are continuing to assemble a demanding pre-season programme designed to push the squad to its limits. The club wants players fully prepared when the league season gets underway, leaving little room for complacency.

That preparation plan has now received another boost.

Leeds United have confirmed that German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig will visit Elland Road during pre-season as part of preparations for the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.

Daniel Farke’s men will first travel to the United States for a trio of friendly encounters against Wrexham, Sunderland and Liverpool before returning to West Yorkshire for another significant test.

The clash against Leipzig is scheduled to take place at Elland Road on Saturday, 8 August 2026, with kick-off set for 2pm.

The German side enjoyed another impressive domestic campaign last season, finishing third in the Bundesliga and securing qualification for the UEFA Champions League. Their own competitive season begins just two weeks after the Leeds encounter, meaning they are also expected to arrive in strong condition.

Interestingly, this will mark the first-ever meeting between Leeds United and Leipzig, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the fixture.

Supporters eager to attend will need to wait a little longer, with full ticket details expected to be announced by the club in due course.
