Pierre Sage sends Must-Read message to Crystal Palace fans as Sack Call Made after brutal 2-0 defeat at Tottenham on Saturday night

Pierre Sage has admitted that his future at Crystal Palace is no longer in his own hands after another damaging Premier League defeat left the Eagles facing growing relegation fears.

Palace travelled to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hoping to turn their fortunes around, but instead suffered a 2-0 defeat that extended their miserable run of results. Goals from Archie Gray and Jan Paul van Hecke ensured Tottenham claimed all three points, taking advantage of Jean-Philippe Mateta’s early red card.

The result leaves Palace firmly in the relegation zone after winning just one of their opening nine league matches. With pressure mounting on the Frenchman, questions are increasingly being asked about whether he will remain in charge long enough to turn the situation around.

And Sage has now made a revealing admission about his position, acknowledging that the final decision over his future rests with the club’s hierarchy.

Pierre Sage admits Crystal Palace future is out of his hands

Speaking after the defeat to Tottenham, Sage was asked whether he was aware of Crystal Palace’s position in the Premier League table and the growing pressure surrounding his job.

The Palace manager made it clear that he was deeply unhappy with the situation but insisted he would not surrender or stop fighting for his position.

He said:

“I am really aware of the situation,” Sage said.

“I don’t like this situation. [But] you can trust in me, I will never give up. I want to be the first on the pitch on Monday. I have the rage to train more. It’s not me to decide this thing [my future]. If I have one hour, I will give my best for one hour. If I have ten years, I will give my best for ten years.”

Those comments underline the uncertainty surrounding Sage’s position at Selhurst Park. While he remains determined to continue working with the players, he has acknowledged that his ability to remain in the dugout ultimately depends on decisions made above him.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish was present at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to watch the defeat, adding another layer of attention to an already difficult afternoon for the Eagles.

Standard Sport also reported that Parish had made a rare appearance in the home dressing room to speak to Sage following Palace’s previous 2-0 defeat to Newcastle.

With three consecutive league defeats now adding to the pressure, the club’s leadership faces an increasingly difficult situation.

Sage admits relegation would be a disaster

The Palace manager was also asked about the possibility of relegation, with the Eagles currently struggling to escape the bottom end of the Premier League table.

Sage did not attempt to disguise the seriousness of the situation, admitting that dropping into the Championship would represent a disaster for the club.

He said:

“Yes, [relegation], it’s a disaster for every club in the Premier League and especially that I have to speak about my club. You know I’m not comfortable with the situation in the table, but it’s a consequence of what we did bad on the pitch.”

The Frenchman also accepted that his immediate responsibility was to improve the team’s performances rather than become distracted by speculation about his future.

He added:

“My only action is on the team and on the pitch. That is why I can speak about the situation of the club in the table, of my situation, because it’s a consequence to of this, but my only way to change a thing is to go on the pitch. That is why I talk to the players and I want to be the first on the pitch on Monday. They can trust in me.

“I will never give up. I will do the best session I can do on Monday because now I have the rage to train more because the game I saw was not in line with my conviction.”

Crystal Palace manager demands improvement from his players

Beyond the disappointing result, Sage was particularly unhappy with the manner of Palace’s performance against Tottenham.

The manager suggested that his team had allowed their opponents too much control of the game and insisted that he wanted to see a more positive approach when they had possession.

He explained:

“I don’t like when we let the initiative too much to the opponent. I was really impressed by what I see of the other team, and I like this kind of play. I know we are not the same team, but we are able to do things with the ball, and we have to improve that.”

His comments suggest that Sage believes Palace have the ability to produce better football despite their difficult position in the table.

However, the immediate concern is the lack of results. One league victory from nine matches is a worrying return for a club that will have little appetite for a prolonged relegation battle.

Sage has promised to keep fighting, but his admission that his future is not his decision leaves the uncertainty hanging over Selhurst Park.

For now, he is determined to return to training on Monday and work towards a turnaround. Whether he will be given the time to deliver one, however, remains the biggest question surrounding Crystal Palace.
