Steven Gerrard is set to make another appearance in the Scottish football spotlight after his recent return to Ibrox sparked plenty of attention among Rangers supporters.
The former Rangers manager was back inside the stadium last month to watch his old side record a memorable 3-0 victory over Celtic, with the Liverpool legend also using the trip to reconnect with two players he coached during his time in Glasgow.
Now, Gerrard is preparing to speak publicly about Scottish football again — and this time, Rangers supporters will be able to hear directly from him.
The former England international has been confirmed as a guest on one of Scotland’s most popular football podcasts, with the episode scheduled to arrive this weekend.
Gerrard has recorded an episode with Open Goal, which will be released on Sunday morning at 8am.
The podcast, hosted by Si Ferry, Andy Halliday and Paul Slane, confirmed the former Rangers boss’ appearance in a social media post on Thursday evening.
The appearance has been a long time coming after Gerrard previously featured during a FaceTime call with Halliday.
During that interaction, Gerrard promised he would join the podcast in person if Halliday managed to complete a challenge set for him.
Halliday was tasked with hitting the crossbar with his right foot — and after successfully completing the challenge, Gerrard has now followed through on his promise.
That means Rangers supporters will get the chance to hear from their former manager in a much more relaxed setting, with the episode coming just weeks after he returned to Ibrox.
Gerrard’s latest connection with Rangers came during the club’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Celtic last month.
The former Liverpool captain was spotted back at his old home and subsequently reunited with Scott Arfield and Halliday during his trip to Glasgow.

Gerrard later shared several photographs from the visit on his personal Instagram page, including images from inside the stadium and pictures alongside the former Rangers players.
Both Arfield and Halliday played under Gerrard during his spell in charge at Ibrox, making the reunion another reminder of the manager’s significant connection with the club.
Gerrard’s return also generated plenty of nostalgia, with the former Rangers boss choosing two fan-favourite tunes — ‘Penny Arcade’ and ‘I’m Feeling It’ — when posting his pictures from the trip.
His latest appearance comes as Rangers continue their current campaign under Derek McInnes, while Gerrard remains a hugely recognisable figure among supporters because of the success he achieved during his time in Glasgow.
The Englishman took charge of Rangers in 2018 and ultimately delivered the club’s first Scottish Premiership title in a decade during the 2020-21 campaign, completing the season unbeaten in the league.
His eventual departure for Aston Villa in 2021 brought an end to his three-and-a-half-year spell in Glasgow, but his connection with Rangers has remained.
That was evident again when he returned to Ibrox for the Celtic victory and spent time with former players.
Now, the Open Goal episode provides another opportunity for Gerrard to discuss his experiences in Scottish football and his time with Rangers.
With Si Ferry, Halliday and Slane leading the conversation, the former Rangers boss is expected to be in familiar company when the episode goes live.
For Rangers fans, the timing makes the appearance particularly intriguing.
Gerrard has only recently been back at Ibrox, reunited with two of his former players and revisited a stadium where he created some of the biggest moments of his managerial career.
Now he is returning to the Scottish football conversation once again.
The episode will air on Sunday morning at 8am.
