Daniel Farke is eager to bring more quality into the final third during the transfer window, and an opportunity may now be emerging.
The Mali international registered 12 goals and four assists for French side AJ Auxerre last season.
Those performances have sparked notable interest from the Premier League, including from the Elland Road outfit.

Leeds among clubs chasing Lassine Sinayoko
Sinayoko now appears increasingly likely to move on from Auxerre this summer, with the French club reportedly preparing for life without him.
A report from Media Foot on Wednesday claimed that Auxerre have approved his departure, with Leeds, Everton, Fulham and Crystal Palace all interested in the attacker. The report suggests the player is valued at more than £12.9million.
It is also claimed that Crystal Palace could hold a slight advantage because their new manager Pierre Sage attempted to sign him last season, something viewed as a potentially decisive factor.
Interest from several Premier League clubs could also increase the eventual transfer fee.
Who is Leeds target Sinayoko?
Sinayoko was born in Bamako, the capital of Mali, and developed through the youth systems of Paris-based clubs Cosmo Taverny and Entente SSG.
He joined Auxerre’s academy setup in 2017 before signing his first professional contract two years later.
The forward played a major role in helping the club’s reserve side earn promotion to the Championnat National 2, the fourth level of French football, during the 2019-20 season.
His senior debut arrived in April 2021 during a 4-0 victory over Niort in Ligue 2, and since then he has accumulated 31 goals and 25 assists across 175 appearances for the French club.
At international level, Sinayoko has earned 31 caps for Mali after making his debut in September 2021 during a World Cup qualifier against Uganda.
He has contributed 10 goals and one assist for his national side, including six goals at the Africa Cup of Nations.
A move for the attacker would certainly represent something of a calculated risk for Leeds United, particularly given the step up in competition. However, his development, versatility and recent performances suggest there is enough potential to justify serious consideration.
With multiple Premier League clubs circling and Auxerre now seemingly prepared to sanction a transfer, the coming weeks could prove crucial in determining whether Sinayoko’s next chapter is written at Elland Road or elsewhere.
