NafisaDanny Rohl has been informed that he might not be the ideal figure to lead Rangers into the future.
The German enjoyed an outstanding beginning at Ibrox, quickly dragging the Light Blues back into unexpected Scottish Premiership title contention within a matter of months.
However, that momentum collapsed after the split, with four consecutive defeats allowing the title to slip away when Rangers had briefly looked like favourites.
Alongside that downturn, Rangers also parted ways with James Tavernier in controversial circumstances, with Rohl opting not to start him in his final appearance.
That situation created tension as the club said farewell to a long-serving figure, and Derek Cornelius has now further added to the frustration surrounding the manager.

Cornelius began his loan spell from Marseille in strong form in Govan, but injury unfortunately halted his progress.
He was later sidelined after returning to training at Auchenhowie and never featured again, despite Rohl insisting further discussions were required.
Gary Keown admits the situation does not reflect well on the manager.
Writing for the Daily Mail, the journalist suggests that Cornelius speaking out about perceived disrespect following the Tavernier episode is another reason why Rohl may not be suited to life at Ibrox.
“The way it worked out, the 34-year-old didn’t play at all. He appeared in his suit and tie pre-match for a strange, low-key, faintly sad presentation from John Greig,” Keown wrote.
“Reports had surfaced pre-match that he had left Ibrox and refused to be involved in the matchday squad at all. It was crazy.
“Cornelius coming out of the woodwork to vent over his treatment just adds to the suspicion that the one-time Sheffield Wednesday manager simply isn’t cut out for the particular challenges of life as an Old Firm boss.
“What happened with Cornelius at Ibrox is a bit of a mystery, all right. Not half as mystifying, though, as why chairman Andrew Cavenagh is hanging his hat — and his reputation — on Rohl for next term.”
Could Danny Rohl leave Rangers?
Wolfsburg have already been linked with Rohl after their season ended in Bundesliga relegation, but that move now appears very unlikely.
Instead, the German seems set to remain in Govan after receiving backing from Andrew Cavenagh, something also reflected in Rangers’ early transfer activity.
Rangers moved swiftly to secure Lawrence Shankland from Hearts, taking advantage of a clause that allowed him to arrive on a free transfer.
However, this situation may serve as a warning to those around Ibrox.
One player publicly disagreeing with a manager is not unusual, but if such incidents begin to mount, it could point to deeper concerns.
Cornelius not playing is not the real issue, and supporters are unlikely to be concerned about regular starters being preferred over loan players, but the perception of disrespect is less than ideal.
Rohl is now under pressure to deliver silverware in his first full season in charge; his initial adjustment period is over, and expectations are rising.
He needs a squad capable of achieving that, but at present his approach is appearing increasingly uncompromising.
