The 16-year-old centre-back has been regarded as one of the club’s brightest academy prospects, and Celtic had hoped to secure his long-term future with a fresh agreement.
According to the Daily Record, however, the teenager has declined those advances and chosen to pursue a move away from Glasgow.
Interest in Jikiemi has been building for several months, with reports first emerging earlier this year suggesting that Liverpool were keen to bring him to Merseyside.
It now appears those plans are progressing, with the defender expected to complete a move to Anfield this summer.
The Premier League giants were not alone in tracking the youngster. Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest were also credited with interest, but Liverpool have seemingly won the race for his signature.
Celtic will receive training compensation following his departure, although the final amount is expected to be lower than it might otherwise have been due to the cross-border nature of the transfer.
