NafisaLawrence Shankland is closing in on a move to Rangers – with confirmation arriving from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Scotland striker cut short his holiday at the end of the season to enter talks with the Ibrox side after a sensational campaign for Hearts in the Premiership.
Shankland, 30, was nominated for Player of the Year and netted 20 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions for the Jambos.
He came close to lifting the title, with only a final-day defeat to Celtic F.C. stopping the club from securing their first top-flight crown in 66 years.
Shankland has been connected with a switch to Rangers for several years but now it appears the striker will finally complete the move to Glasgow having grown up supporting the Light Blues.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano also weighed in with his trademark phrase on social media as he posted: “Rangers have agreed deal to sign Lawrence Shankland from Hearts, here we go!
“Paperwork now signed and Shankland set to be announced as new Rangers player.”
It has been reported this weekend that the player is expected to sign a two-year contract with Gers but will have the option of a third year if all parties agree.
Gers chairman Andrew Cavenagh is anticipated to fund a summer rebuild for Danny Rohl’s squad and the arrival of Shankland – particularly with business being completed so early – signals the beginning of that process.
Former Gers manager Russell Martin could have signed Shankland on a free transfer last summer but declined the opportunity.
Now it looks like new boss Danny Rohl is set to make up for that after making Scotland’s 2024 player of the year his top target for this summer.
And it appears he could be the first of several Scottish additions, with chairman Andrew Cavenagh revealing last week that the club will attempt to recruit more Scottish talent in the coming weeks.
