NafisaLeeds United’s return to the Premier League has sparked excitement among numerous former players and coaches.
Daniel Farke eventually completed the task as the Peacocks secured the Championship trophy with 100 points.
This means the Yorkshire outfit will rejoin the English top-tier after a two-year absence, bringing a significant financial boost to Leeds.
Beyond Elland Road, plenty celebrated the development. Ex-manager Marco Bielsa was thrilled about the promotion, years after his own achievements.
Now, his replacement, Jesse Marsch, has also shared his thoughts on the news during a recent conversation with Kieran Maguire.
Marsch shares his ‘delight’ over Leeds’ success:
Marsch led Leeds between 2022 and 2023 in the Premier League.
However, his spell at Elland Road didn’t go according to plan, and he was eventually dismissed following a stretch of just six points from eight games.
Since then, the American has taken over as head coach of the Canadian national side as they gear up for the 2026 World Cup.
Still, despite ending his tenure at the club on a low, Marsch maintains a deep connection with Leeds.
During a recent session with financial analyst Maguire, the coach conveyed his happiness at seeing the Yorkshire club return to the Premier League.
Maguire said (7 May): “Great to be on the same stage with Jesse Marsche today in Cologne talking technical (him) and financial (me) tactics.
“Good, good guy, super smart and looking forward to the World Cup next year. Delighted Leeds have been promoted too.”
Farke must avoid repeating Marsch’s errors:
Although Marsch may still have some support from a segment of the Leeds faithful, his time in the top division was problematic.
The American played a major role in Leeds’ relegation during the 2022/23 season. At the time of his dismissal, he had the club sitting 17th, narrowly above the drop zone due to goal difference.
The downturn during Marsch’s reign was obvious, and much of the foundation Bielsa had laid was undone. Farke needs to be cautious not to fall into the same trap, or Leeds risk another immediate relegation.
The German’s track record in the Premier League has already faced scrutiny, but he still has a strong opportunity to change that narrative with the Peacocks.
