NafisaKris Boyd has backed Lawrence Shankland to be a game-changer for Rangers.
As SunSport first revealed, the Hearts captain will complete a sensational dream switch to Ibrox.
He’ll undergo a medical tomorrow and join his boyhood heroes before linking up with the Scotland squad heading to the World Cup.
And former No9 Boyd has tipped Shankland to be a transformative signing for Danny Rohl.
Former Rangers striker Boyd believes Shankland could make a massive impact on Danny Rohl’s side. Boyd said: “Shankland brings so much on the pitch, but his influence behind the scenes could be just as huge. [Scottish Sun]
“Rangers need leaders at this moment in time, and he’s the type of character who can change that mentality. He’s been Hearts’ captain, but he doesn’t need an armband to motivate the people around him.
“He also understands what Rangers Football Club is all about. I have absolutely no doubt he will score goals for the team.”
Boyd dismissed concerns surrounding age, insisting Shankland’s experience would be an advantage. He said: “There’s been a lot made of him turning 31, but for me that’s a positive.
“He’s not a young, daft boy who could be overawed; he’s a mature family man with the experience to do well.
“He has a knack of finding the net out of nothing, even when the team isn’t playing particularly well.”
Shankland will undergo a Rangers medical today before completing his dream switch to Ibrox.
Ibrox chiefs had hoped to finalise the transfer yesterday but his medical was delayed because it was a bank holiday.
Shankland, 30, is due to meet up with Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad but he’ll be granted permission to arrive later than the rest of the group.

But Gers made their move after it emerged the hitman had a release clause in his Tynecastle contract which made him available for FREE.
