NafisaRangers are edging closer to another major addition as Derek McInnes continues to reshape his squad following a difficult opening to the new campaign.
The Ibrox hierarchy have already been extremely active during the summer window, but the early competitive results have highlighted areas where further investment is required.
McInnes has been particularly keen to add more pace, creativity and unpredictability to his attacking options, with the Rangers boss looking for players capable of changing games rather than simply adding numbers to his squad.
The club’s recruitment team have therefore continued to explore the market, while work is also ongoing at the other end of the pitch.
Rangers are still considering defensive reinforcements before the transfer window closes, particularly at right-back, where several options have emerged as potential targets.
Club Brugge defender Hugo Siquet remains under consideration. The 24-year-old Belgian international is contracted to the Belgian champions until 2028 and has established himself as a reliable option at the club.
Siquet also has a previous connection to Rangers midfielder Nico Raskin, having shared a dressing room with him during their time at Standard Liège.
Another player being assessed is Aston Villa’s Kosta Nedeljkovic.
The 20-year-old Serbia international arrived at Villa Park from Red Star Belgrade for around £8million in 2024 but has struggled to establish himself in Unai Emery’s first-team plans.
He has spent the last two seasons on loan with RB Leipzig, and a temporary move to Scotland is now regarded as a realistic possibility.
Former Hearts defender James Penrice is another name still worth watching, with Rangers continuing to monitor developments surrounding the 27-year-old.
However, while defensive recruitment remains important, the biggest development for McInnes today has come further forward.
Rangers are now on the verge of completing a deal that could provide the manager with exactly the kind of attacking profile he has been looking for.
The player has already made the journey to Scotland, with his arrival in Glasgow signalling that the transfer has entered its decisive stage.
TEAMtalk can confirm that PSV Eindhoven winger Couhaib Driouech has travelled to Glasgow to undergo his Rangers medical today.
The 24-year-old Moroccan international is expected to complete a move worth around £7million, with a four-year contract waiting for him once the remaining formalities are completed.
If everything goes according to plan, Driouech will become Rangers’ tenth summer signing.
It represents a significant moment in the club’s recruitment drive and another statement of intent from the Ibrox hierarchy.
Driouech has been a priority target for McInnes because of his versatility and attacking qualities. Although he predominantly operates from the left flank, he is also capable of playing on the opposite side.
That flexibility could prove particularly valuable for Rangers, who have been searching for greater attacking balance following their difficult start to the campaign.
The winger’s pace and ability to create opportunities are qualities McInnes believes can add another dimension to his forward line.
His arrival would also provide Rangers with another natural wide option as the manager attempts to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts.
There is still work to be completed before the transfer can officially be announced, with the medical and final contractual formalities needing to be concluded.
But the fact Driouech is already in Glasgow represents a major step forward.
