NafisaRangers’ busy summer transfer window shows no signs of slowing down as Derek McInnes looks to complete another crucial phase of his squad rebuild before the new season gets underway.
After overseeing six arrivals already, the Ibrox boss has made it clear that the club’s recruitment drive is far from finished.
With Rangers eager to challenge Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title, McInnes wants his squad as close to completion as possible before preparations step up next week. And judging by his latest comments, supporters may not have long to wait before more new faces arrive at Ibrox.
McInnes hints at two more Rangers signings
Rangers continued their pre-season preparations with a 2-2 draw against Malaysian champions Johor Darul Ta’zim during their training camp in Spain.
Although the result carried little significance, McInnes used the opportunity to assess his players while also providing a major update on the club’s transfer plans.
Speaking to Rangers TV after the match, the manager praised the recruitment work already completed but confirmed the club are actively working to bring in more additions.
“The club have done brilliant work at this moment in time to try and bring in the additions that we clearly needed from last season.
“We want to make sure we are a more rounded squad and we are ready. The work will be ongoing and we are still looking to try and get a couple of things done ahead of the St-Etienne game on Wednesday.”
McInnes’ comments strongly suggest Rangers are hoping to complete two more signings before next week’s friendly against Saint-Étienne, with negotiations continuing behind the scenes.
Dragojevic closing in as Rangers target another arrival
One of those deals already appears to be nearing completion.
Reports indicate that Vanja Dragojevic is expected to undergo a medical on Friday ahead of completing his move from Partizan Belgrade.
The highly-rated Serbian midfielder would become Rangers’ seventh signing of the summer after Lawrence Shankland, Ivor Pandur, Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey, Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin all arrived earlier in the window.
Attention will then quickly turn to who could become signing number eight.
Hjerto-Dahl uncertainty continues
Norwegian midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl remains one of Rangers’ long-standing targets, although the situation has become increasingly complicated.
Recent reports in Norway suggested Rangers officials were prepared to travel to Tromso in an effort to push through a deal after both Rangers and Cardiff City had bids rejected.
However, conflicting reports have since claimed Rangers are becoming increasingly pessimistic about their chances of securing the midfielder, with competition for his signature continuing to intensify.
Whether Hjerto-Dahl eventually arrives or Rangers switch their focus elsewhere, McInnes’ latest update makes it clear the club are determined to keep their transfer momentum going.
With Dragojevic edging closer to becoming Rangers’ next signing and another deal potentially following before Wednesday, supporters could soon have even more reasons for optimism as the Ibrox rebuild gathers serious pace ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
