NafisaRangers are edging ever closer to completing the signing of Partizan Belgrade captain Vanja Dragojevic, with the Serbian midfielder now firmly on course to become Derek McInnes’ latest addition at Ibrox.
After an aggressive start to the summer transfer window, Rangers are showing no signs of slowing down as the club continue rebuilding the squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
McInnes has already welcomed six new arrivals, but the midfield remains a key area of focus, and Dragojevic now appears to be next through the door.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Partizan last season, making 41 appearances across all competitions while contributing four goals.
Despite his young age, he has already accumulated more than 50 senior appearances and was trusted with the captain’s armband, underlining his maturity and leadership qualities.
According to Sky Sports, Rangers are now completing the final stages of an agreement worth around £4 million, with only the remaining formalities left before the transfer can be finalised.
Should everything proceed as expected, Dragojevic will travel to Glasgow for his medical, complete the necessary paperwork and officially become Rangers’ seventh signing of the summer.
His arrival would continue an impressive recruitment drive that has already seen Lawrence Shankland, Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey, Ivor Pandur, Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin join the Light Blues.
However, Dragojevic may not be the last midfielder to arrive at Ibrox.
The same report claims Rangers remain in active discussions over a move for highly-rated Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl, who has been one of McInnes’ priority targets throughout the window.
Previous reports suggested Rangers have already agreed personal terms with the Norwegian youngster, although negotiations with Tromso are still ongoing as the Scottish club look to balance their finances before making another significant offer.
With Hjerto-Dahl expected to cost closer to £7 million, Rangers have prioritised completing the more affordable Dragojevic deal first before turning their full attention back to the Norwegian.
McInnes is determined to build a midfield capable of competing on every front next season, and adding both Dragojevic and Hjerto-Dahl would represent another major statement of intent from the new Rangers boss.
Although supporters are eagerly awaiting an official announcement, there are still several steps to complete before the Serbian international is unveiled.
Once the final agreement between the clubs is signed, Dragojevic is expected to fly to Scotland to undergo his medical examinations, finalise his long-term contract and complete the club’s media duties before joining his new teammates in training.
Given the progress already made, Rangers fans are increasingly optimistic that confirmation could arrive early next week, with Dragojevic poised to become another key piece of McInnes’ ambitious rebuild at Ibrox.
