After weeks of speculation linking the Whites with several central defenders, the club now appears to have won the race for a player who had attracted interest from across the Premier League and Serie A.
Competition for Tarik Muharemović’s signature has been fierce throughout the transfer window, with Sunderland, Bournemouth and even Juventus all credited with interest at various stages. However, Leeds have moved decisively to put themselves in pole position, with the transfer now all but complete.
The breakthrough has now been confirmed by some of football’s most reliable transfer sources, leaving Leeds supporters with every reason to believe another major signing is on the verge of arriving at Elland Road.
Multiple reports from Italy, including Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, confirm that Leeds United have agreed a deal to sign Tarik Muharemović from Sassuolo.
Romano has given the move his trademark “Here We Go”, confirming the transfer is now fully agreed.
Writing on X, Romano revealed:
“Exclusive story from Saturday, now confirmed: Leeds United agree deal to sign Tarik Muharemović, here we go!
€40m package fee to Sassuolo, Juventus get €20m as sell-on clause.
Muharemović will travel for medical and contract signing at #LUFC.”
The agreement will see Leeds pay a €40 million package, with Juventus receiving €20 million after retaining a 50 per cent sell-on clause when they sold the defender to Sassuolo.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international enhanced his reputation with impressive performances during the 2026 World Cup and had long been expected to secure a major move this summer.
Muharemović progressed through Juventus’ academy before joining Sassuolo on loan, with the move later becoming permanent in 2025 for around €2 million.
As part of that agreement, Juventus negotiated a 50 per cent sell-on clause—an arrangement that will now earn the Turin club a significant financial windfall from Leeds’ deal.
At one stage, Juventus were reported to be considering re-signing the defender themselves, with the clause meaning they could effectively have brought him back for considerably less than rival clubs would have paid.
However, the Serie A giants ultimately decided against making a move and instead opted to benefit financially from Leeds United’s agreement with Sassuolo.
The Whites have also beaten strong competition from Bournemouth and Sunderland, both of whom were heavily linked with the 23-year-old during the transfer window.
With the deal now agreed, Muharemović is expected to travel to England shortly to undergo his medical before signing his contract and completing his move to Elland Road.
The arrival would represent another major statement of intent from Daniel Farke as Leeds continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
