Leeds United are reportedly close to tying goalkeeper Karl Darlow down to a new two-year contract that would keep the Welsh international at Elland Road until the summer of 2028, according to sources close to the club.
The 35-year-old featured 22 times for the Whites last season, producing five clean sheets while conceding 27 goals from 90 shots on target, figures that further highlight his consistency despite entering the latter stages of his career.
Head coach Daniel Farke is believed to have pushed strongly for Darlow to remain at the club, with Leeds offering improved contractual terms in an effort to fend off reported interest from both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
The improved package reflects the manager’s confidence in Darlow’s influence, viewing his leadership qualities and experience as valuable assets for a squad looking to establish greater consistency next season.
Nick Pope Pursuit Faces Fresh Uncertainty
Leeds’ commitment to extending Darlow’s stay has also complicated another potential transfer.
The club’s reported interest in England goalkeeper Nick Pope has now become increasingly uncertain.

Chelsea have reportedly identified Swedish international Gabriel Gudmundsson as a possible long-term replacement for Marc Cucurella, who is expected to complete a £50 million move to Real Madrid this summer.
The London club’s recruitment team are understood to view Gudmundsson as an ideal fit following another impressive campaign at Elland Road.
Across 32 league appearances, the left-back registered 114 clearances, 35 successful tackles and nine interceptions, demonstrating the defensive solidity that has attracted attention from elsewhere.
Going forward, Gudmundsson also created 16 chances and delivered 27 accurate crosses into the penalty area.
His passing statistics further underline his quality in possession, completing 804 of 1,041 attempted passes for a success rate of 77%, making him an effective outlet when building attacks from deep.
Leeds Already Have Options Ready
Despite Chelsea’s reported interest, Leeds are quietly preparing their own solutions at left-back.
Should Sam Byram agree fresh terms, he will continue providing experienced cover, while James Justin remains capable of operating across several defensive positions whenever required.
