NafisaCeltic are ‘currently in the strongest position’ for Brondby’s Benjamin Tahirovic, despite Rangers being ‘linked earlier’ as a potential destination.
Tahirovic joined Brondby from Dutch giants Ajax in February 2025, putting pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Danish club.
In the latest Danish Superliga campaign, the midfielder registered 25 appearances for Brondby, including 13 starts, while scoring once and delivering one assist.
Despite playing in 32 matches across all competitions this season, Tahirovic was largely sidelined under now former manager Steve Cooper.
Tahirovic could well be on the move away from Brondby when the summer transfer window opens, with Scotland emerging as a possible destination.
Both Celtic and Rangers have been mentioned in connection with the midfielder.
According to Bosnian outlet SportSport, Celtic are ‘currently in the strongest position’ for Tahirovic, despite Rangers being ‘linked earlier’ as a potential destination.
Whether Rangers are actively pursuing Tahirovic remains uncertain, but Celtic appear to be leading contenders to land the Bosnia international’s signature.
Celtic though may have to wait before completing any deal.
It is reported that Brondby are in no rush to sell Tahirovic as they believe he could deliver performances at the World Cup which would raise his profile and price tag.
If additional clubs enter the race for the former Roma midfielder, it could make things more challenging for Celtic.
The Bhoys, who clinched their 56th Scottish league title following a 3-1 win over Hearts on the final day, are set to head into the summer transfer window aiming to reinforce their squad and mount a Champions League qualification push.
Celtic are yet to fully get moving in the market, with uncertainty still surrounding whether they will retain Marcelo Saracchi.
Saracchi has returned to Argentina, with his club Boca Juniors ‘closely tracking’ any move the Scottish side make for the player.
Rangers have, however, started strongly in the transfer window, signing Lawrence Shankland and preparing a formal offer for Dundee defender Luke Graham.
