NafisaTomas Cvancara has confirmed that his Celtic career is already over after posting an emotional farewell message to supporters on social media.
The Czech striker arrived at Celtic in January on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach, with the Scottish champions holding an option to make the move permanent this summer.
Although the 25-year-old delivered one unforgettable moment by scoring the decisive penalty against Rangers in the Scottish Cup quarter-final at Ibrox, he managed just two goals across 13 appearances in total during his short spell in Glasgow.
Now, it appears his time at Parkhead has officially come to an end.
Cvancara revealed on Instagram that his season is finished after suffering a serious adductor injury which will require surgery.
“This season is over for me,” he said on Instagram.
“Next week I’ll undergo surgery after tearing my adductor.
“Honestly, this is not how I imagined my season at Celtic coming to an end, and not the way I wanted it to finish.
“But despite everything, I’m truly grateful that I had the chance to be part of this club, this team, and these moments.
“I know there weren’t as many individual moments as I wanted, but whenever I stepped on the pitch, I always tried to help the team and give everything for the badge.
“And to all the fans.. THANK YOU.
“For every message, every bit of support, and the energy you gave me. It truly meant a lot.
“Now I’ll support the boys from the outside, and I truly believe this team will finish the season the right way and bring home the DOUBLE!!”
The injury effectively ends any realistic hopes of Celtic activating the purchase clause in his loan agreement.
Cvancara struggled to establish himself consistently in Martin O’Neill’s side after arriving midway through the campaign. Injuries, competition for places and inconsistent form limited his impact despite flashes of quality during important moments.
That penalty at Ibrox remains the standout memory from his spell in Scotland.
With the pressure at its highest against Rangers in the Scottish Cup, Cvancara showed composure and nerve to convert from the spot and help send Celtic through. It briefly looked like the striker might use that moment as a platform to build momentum heading into the closing weeks of the season.
Instead, injuries disrupted his progress once again.
Celtic’s forward line has also become increasingly competitive in recent months. Daizen Maeda has rediscovered top form at exactly the right time, while Kelechi Iheanacho has also improved significantly after a difficult start to life at Parkhead.
That left Cvancara fighting for opportunities.
Although his time at Celtic did not unfold the way many supporters had hoped, there still appears to be genuine appreciation from the striker towards the club and fanbase following his emotional goodbye message.
For now, his focus shifts fully towards surgery and recovery as Celtic continue their push for a league and cup double without him.
