WSL Full-Time were notified of the development through an official club statement from The Foxes earlier this afternoon.
The 58-year-old steps into the role on a full-time basis after spending several weeks serving as the club’s caretaker boss. He has penned a three-year contract with the East Midlands outfit. Passmoor has guided Leicester City to a stable beginning to the new campaign, in which they have earned four points from five matches.
Speaking after his confirmation as Leicester City’s new head coach, Passmoor said “I am very privileged and very honoured to be at this Football Club. I want to ensure we continue to progress and further establish ourselves in the WSL.
“This is a proud Football Club with proud fans and a fantastic Board of Directors. There’s history on the men’s side, and we want to make sure we leave a legacy with LCFC Women.”
Passmoor’s maiden match as permanent manager will be against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday. Leicester City’s new boss wants his team to stay fully dedicated to their tactical approach versus The Villans.
He said “Bearing in mind the fixtures that they’ve had leading up to us, they’re a very good team. It’s obviously a fantastic stadium, it’s a bit of a local derby and they have some really good players, so we’ve got to have a game plan.
“Like every week, we’ve got to be committed to the game plan as individuals and as a unit to ensure that we give a good account of ourselves. It’ll be a very tough fixture away at Villa.”
During his spell as interim coach, Passmoor witnessed his Leicester City side respond strongly following defeats to Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur, and he says that unity will continue to be vital moving forward.
He said “The great thing is that you’re only as good as your last game and as soon as the 90 minutes or 100 minutes are finished, you’re already thinking ‘there’s another game in seven days, we’ve got to play again’.
“In terms of the togetherness and the drive, what we’ve insisted on as a unit is that whoever comes to The King Power or wherever we go, we have that as a baseline and as a foundation. We know that it’s going to be a challenge this season and we are accepting that challenge to push ourselves on the pitch and in training.
“It’s a minimum that we need to be a team. We need to be a collective and we need to be a team moving forward. That’s pleasing to see, it gives us a benchmark and we want to develop from that foundation.”
Passmoor’s first outing as Leicester City’s full-time boss against Aston Villa gets underway at midday on Sunday.
