Everyone was somewhat surprised when reports emerged that Jamie Vardy was close to joining Italian club Cremonese. But that was far from being official confirmation.
However, when the reputable journalists and their trusted outlets began to verify the claims, shock set in. It’s not that Leicester City’s Blue Army supporters or the wider English football fans have any issue with the Italian side.
On the contrary. It’s just that many of us hoped he would stay at a club in England so we could continue watching him play and follow his career more closely as loyal ‘Vardists’ (or Vardisi).

In the end, the highly sought-after 38-year-old opted against a move within the United Kingdom. Nor did it appear that he was interested in playing in Major League Soccer in North America, even though it’s said his wife, Rebekah, was keen on a destination like Miami with Inter.

It seems the former Fleetwood Town forward was drawn to the ambitious la Cremo project. La Tigri’s manager believes their early victories against AC Milan and Sassuolo influenced Vardy’s choice. Their salary offer was reportedly increased quite quickly as well:
