Celtic midfielder Odin Thiago Holm is on the verge of a move back to Norway as the club looks to get him regular game time and reignite his career.
The 23-year-old, who joined Celtic from Vålerenga for £2.6 million, was once tipped as one of the brightest young talents in European football. Now, three years after leaving his homeland for Scotland, Holm is set to return in a loan deal designed to help him rediscover his form.
Norwegian outlet TV2 has confirmed that the loan is expected to be completed on deadline day, allowing Holm to play for the remainder of the Norwegian season, which runs until December.
Holm previously left Celtic in January 2025 for LAFC but struggled to make a meaningful impact before returning to Parkhead in December. The midfielder revealed that a leg syndrome has affected his performance and limited his ability to fulfil the potential that had seen him highly rated when he first moved to Scotland.
During Brendan Rodgers’ first season back at Celtic, Holm made 16 appearances, scoring once and providing one assist. Expectations were high for the Norwegian to become a key figure in midfield, but persistent physical issues have prevented him from truly establishing himself.
Celtic are hopeful that the loan spell will allow Holm to regain fitness, showcase his ability, and determine whether he has a long-term future at Celtic Park.
The club has struggled in recent years to turn young prospects into first-team regulars, with Matt O’Reilly and Jota being among the few who have come in, fulfilled their potential, and been sold on.
