Leicester City have “shown interest” in Palmeiras defender Bruno Fuchs ahead of the January transfer window but, more realistically, with an eye on a potential summer move.
Foxes’ scouts have reportedly monitored the 26-year-old during the Copa Libertadores semifinal, according to Sport Witness, while Brazilian outlet Bolavip further strengthened the rumour by stating that the Championship club’s presence at Allianz Parque did not go unnoticed.
Centre-back Fuchs, Bolavip claims, is currently performing at a very high level for Palmeiras, drawing attention from European sides for the 2026 campaign.
“Leicester City, from the English second division, has shown interest and sent scouts to observe the defender during Palmeiras’ victory against LDU Quito in the CONMEBOL Libertadores semi-final,” the report says.
“The presence of foreign scouts raises a red flag for Palmeiras, but no formal negotiations have yet taken place.”
The piece notes that the adaptable defender has shone at the back and has also featured in a defensive midfield position where he has “impressed” boss Abel Ferreira and his backroom team. This flexibility, it adds, has elevated the player’s value in the eyes of both the club and overseas scouts.
Fuchs is presently on loan from Atlético-MG until the end of the year, with Palmeiras possessing a purchase option that they “intend to exercise” for roughly 3.5 million euros.
Fuchs also boasts prior European experience, having featured for CSKA Moscow during the 2020/21 season. This exposure, says the report, “increases the confidence of Leicester and other foreign clubs” who view the Brazilian as a player with not only technical quality but also the ability to quickly acclimatise to the European tempo.
Since arriving at Palmeiras, Fuchs has made 36 appearances and scored three goals, highlighting his attacking threat from dead-ball situations.
