Leicester City manager Marti Cifuentes labelled the Foxes’ first-half display in their defeat to Hull City as “unacceptable” during the break, midfielder Aaron Ramsey has revealed.
Strikes from Liam Millar and Joe Gelhardt saw the Tigers storm into a two-goal advantage just beyond the half-hour mark.
Ramsey’s second goal in consecutive games — a beautifully placed finish into the top corner from distance — cut Leicester’s arrears in half.
However, it ultimately counted for nothing, meaning the Foxes have managed only one victory in their last seven Championship fixtures.
“I think you can imagine what he said – it’s unacceptable,” Ramsey told BBC Radio Leicester after the match.
“To be Leicester City Football Club and do what we did in the first half, it just wasn’t good enough.
“We’re all disappointed, staff, players – I’m sure the fans are as well. Bad night.”
Ramsey endured a tough introduction to life at the club following his season-long loan from Burnley last month, being shown a red card on his debut against Oxford United and then serving a three-game suspension.
Although he has now found the net in back-to-back appearances, the 22-year-old admitted he should have added more goals as Leicester slipped to eighth in the standings, with the potential to fall two more spots depending on other midweek results.
“I should have scored another two, maybe, and if you know me, you know I’ll be looking at them two instead of the goal,” he added.
“It’s nice getting a second goal for this football club after the start that I had but we lost three points, that’s the main thing.
“I’m disappointed for myself, the lads, the staff and the fans who travelled all that way on a Tuesday night – bottom line, it just wasn’t good enough.”
