BREAKING — European Champions to SIGN Marti Cifuentes key player and Foxes now forced to SELL due to….

Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumare is being targeted for a return by Sevilla this winter, according to a report from AS.

Leicester City could be set for a tussle to hold onto the player in the upcoming January transfer window. LCFC are currently pushing for promotion back to the Premier League.

Soumare, 26, sees his contract expire at the end of the season. He is poised to become a free agent in June 2026 as things stand.

In the latest update surrounding his future at the King Power Stadium, Spanish outlet AS report that Sevilla are eager for a reunion in a few months’ time. The midfielder spent the previous campaign on loan with the La Liga side, making 34 appearances across all competitions, 28 of which came in the league.

Gazzetta dello Sport recently revealed that Roma are also showing interest in the Frenchman. As a result, Marti Cifuentes’ side could find it difficult to keep hold of him amid growing interest from overseas.

The Foxes currently sit 3rd in the Championship table after their opening nine fixtures and occupy a play-off spot alongside Preston North End, Stoke City, and QPR. They trail Coventry City by three points at the top and are two behind Middlesbrough in 2nd.

Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumare is wanted back by Sevilla:

Leicester City face a major decision over Soumare’s future. LCFC risk losing him for free next summer if they don’t cash in this January, assuming he doesn’t agree to fresh terms before then.

The Foxes signed him in 2021 to strengthen their midfield options. Since then, he has featured 103 times for the club, including nine appearances so far this season under Cifuentes.

Soumare began his career at Paris FC before progressing through the academy setup at PSG. However, he never made a senior appearance for the Ligue 1 powerhouse.

The former France youth international later joined Lille, where he became a key figure before Leicester City convinced him to make the move to England. Whether he stays at the King Power or departs for a new challenge remains to be seen.

What next for Boubakary Soumare and Leicester City?

Leicester City’s determination would likely be tested if Sevilla submit an offer. LCFC would prefer not to lose him for nothing, so accepting a reasonable fee in January could be the pragmatic move if he refuses to extend his contract.

The Foxes return to action this weekend after the international break, hosting Portsmouth as they aim to sustain their strong form.

Cifuentes’ side recorded a 3-1 victory away at Swansea City in their last outing, with goals from Jordan James, Abdul Fatawu, and Jannik Vestergaard in South Wales.
