Marti Cifuentes is at risk of losing his position as Leicester manager, talkSPORT understands.
Sources close to the Foxes say owner Khun ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha was already considering a change in the dugout even before today’s 3-2 loss at home to Sheffield United.
Leicester have managed only six victories from their 18 Championship matches this season following their drop from the Premier League.
They are currently 15th in the division – seven points above the relegation zone – and could slip further once the weekend fixtures are completed.
The Foxes are also facing a potential points deduction in the coming days due to alleged Profit and Sustainability Rules violations.
talkSPORT has been informed that while a 12-point punishment is possible, a six-point deduction is viewed as the most probable scenario.
It places Leicester under genuine threat of relegation if their performances do not improve.
Cifuentes signed a two-year contract with the club when he was hired in July.
It is understood the Spaniard accepted a reduced salary to take the Leicester role after being put on gardening leave by Queens Park Rangers in April.
Even so, Leicester would need to weigh the cost of making a managerial change, given their financial issues.

Russell Martin, who was previously linked with Leicester before the campaign began, is available again following his disastrous spell at Rangers.
Gary O’Neil is also seen as a possible option after recent connections with Wolves and Norwich.
