Steve Cooper is confident that Nottingham Forest can “get the job done” in their pursuit of Champions League qualification as they prepare to take on Leicester City.
Cooper’s two former teams will clash at the City Ground in the Premier League on Sunday (2:15pm).
While the Foxes are already condemned to relegation back to the Championship, Forest are vying for a top-five spot and a berth in next season’s Champions League.
They currently sit in sixth place with three games remaining, facing City, West Ham, and Chelsea.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s squad will be eager to disrupt Forest’s ambitions, but, speaking after Forest’s 1-1 stalemate with Crystal Palace on Monday night, Cooper says Nuno Espirito Santo’s team should view their upcoming matches and trust in their ability to secure a Champions League spot.
“I look at it with two lenses really. You look at it like everybody else is, but I’m also looking at where the club has come from a little bit,” Cooper told the Premier League’s official website.
“But if we are just talking about now, it’s all to play for. It’s a decent point (against Palace).
“Looking at the fixtures, there’s no reason why Forest, the players, the manager shouldn’t back themselves to get the job done. Even going 1-0 down and bouncing back, it’s another good sign of resilience and another good sign of concentration and of not panicking.
“They are in a really good position to get the job done. It’s all to play for.”
