NafisaJoel Piroe’s time at Leeds United has officially come to an end after West Ham completed the signing of the Dutch striker.
The move brings an end to weeks of uncertainty surrounding the 27-year-old’s future and gives Nuno Espírito Santo another attacking option as the Hammers continue their push for an immediate return to the Premier League.
Piroe has joined West Ham on loan for the remainder of the 2026/27 campaign, with the agreement understood to contain an option to buy that could become relevant if the London club secure promotion.
For Leeds, it represents another significant departure as Daniel Farke continues to reshape his squad following promotion to the Premier League.
Piroe brings proven Championship pedigree
The attraction for West Ham is obvious.
Piroe has already demonstrated that he knows how to score goals in the second tier, having found the net 73 times in league football across his spells with Swansea City and Leeds United.
That experience could prove extremely valuable for a West Ham side whose need for attacking reinforcements had become increasingly apparent.
The Hammers accelerated their pursuit of Piroe after their move for Troy Parrott stalled over financial differences with AZ Alkmaar.

Piroe’s departure from Leeds was perhaps inevitable after his role at Elland Road diminished following the club’s return to the Premier League.
The striker had been an important figure during Leeds’ promotion campaign, but competition for places increased significantly once Farke’s side stepped back into the top flight.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and other attacking options moved ahead of Piroe in the pecking order, leaving the Dutchman facing another season with limited opportunities.
West Ham now offer him the chance to reverse that situation.
Instead of fighting for occasional appearances, Piroe arrives at a club where he is expected to play an important role in the promotion campaign.
That could be exactly what he needs.
Piroe could make his West Ham debut quickly
There may not be much time for the new signing to settle in.
West Ham have already been handed the opportunity to use their new striker in competitive action, with the Hammers facing Southampton in the Carabao Cup second round on Tuesday, August 25.
