NafisaRangers have pulled off what many supporters are already describing as one of the smartest pieces of business of the summer after completing the signing of Australian international Cammy Devlin, with the midfielder choosing a move to Ibrox despite strong interest elsewhere.
The Light Blues have shown throughout the transfer window that they are determined to back Derek McInnes as he reshapes the squad ahead of the new campaign.
With several experienced additions already arriving in Glasgow, Rangers have continued to strengthen key areas of the team while looking to build a squad capable of challenging for major honours once again.
Recruitment has been one of the biggest talking points around Ibrox in recent weeks, with supporters eager to see the club continue adding proven quality before competitive football returns. Rangers have acted decisively throughout the summer, and another important deal has now been wrapped up.
The latest arrival is expected to provide extra energy, experience and leadership in midfield, with the club believing he has all the attributes needed to make an immediate impact under McInnes.
After successfully completing his medical, Rangers officially confirmed the signing of Cammy Devlin on a two-year contract, with the agreement also including the option of a further 12 months.
The Australian international joins the Glasgow giants following the expiry of his contract at Hearts, where he enjoyed five successful years before deciding his future lay elsewhere.
Devlin leaves Tynecastle after making more than 150 appearances for the Edinburgh side and playing a major role in helping Hearts record their highest Scottish Premiership points tally in the club’s history.
Having previously worked under Derek McInnes, the midfielder now reunites with his former manager at Ibrox as Rangers continue assembling a squad capable of competing both domestically and in Europe.
Born in Sydney, Devlin developed through the youth systems of Sutherland Sharks and Western Sydney Wanderers before progressing to Sydney FC, where he gained valuable experience in both the A-League and the AFC Champions League.
His impressive performances eventually earned him a move to Wellington Phoenix before Hearts secured his signature in 2021.
On the international stage, Devlin made his senior debut for Australia in 2022 before being selected for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar later that year. Strong displays in Scotland also earned him another call-up for this summer’s World Cup, where Australia reached the Round of 32.
Devlin becomes Rangers’ sixth signing of the current transfer window following the arrivals of Lawrence Shankland, Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey, Ivor Pandur and Dan Neil.
Speaking after completing his move to Ibrox, Devlin said:
