NafisaLeeds United have remained one of the busiest clubs in the market this summer, even if supporters are still waiting to see fresh faces officially unveiled in white.
Recruitment work has continued behind the scenes, with negotiations taking place across several positions as Daniel Farke looks to strengthen a squad preparing for another demanding Premier League campaign.
While rival clubs have rushed to announce new arrivals, Leeds have taken a more measured approach, ensuring every detail is completed before making anything public.
That patient strategy has occasionally left supporters wondering when the next announcement will arrive, particularly after reports suggested one of the club’s priority targets had already agreed terms.
Away from incoming transfers, there was one major development earlier this week after Leeds confirmed the departure of Pascal Struijk to Brighton & Hove Albion once all documentation had been completed.
Attention has now quickly shifted back towards new arrivals.
Leeds reached an agreement to bring in Harry Wilson on a free transfer last week, with the Wales international already signing a four-year contract at Elland Road. Despite that, the club have yet to officially introduce him as their newest addition.
According to Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Graham Smyth, there is a simple explanation for why the announcement has not yet been made.
Everything regarding Wilson’s transfer has already been agreed, and there had initially been an expectation that Leeds would confirm the signing shortly after the winger officially became a free agent on Wednesday.
However, Smyth has suggested supporters may need to wait a little longer, with the official unveiling now expected sometime next week.
Importantly, he stressed there are no complications surrounding the transfer and that the deal itself has already been fully completed.
Instead, practical arrangements have delayed the public announcement.
Speaking on the Inside Elland Road podcast, Smyth explained:
“Yeah, it’s done, it’s agreed.
“I don’t expect an announcement until possibly next week, but no one is worrying about it or panicking about it; there are no nefarious reasons behind that.
“It’s just a timing, logistics thing, getting him in the building sort of thing as far as I’m aware. But, yeah, that one was agreed.”
When Wilson does officially become a Leeds player, many supporters believe he could immediately address one of the biggest weaknesses in Farke’s side.
Although Leeds were well organised throughout last season and proved extremely difficult to break down, they occasionally struggled to unlock opponents when dominating possession against deep defensive blocks.
The Whites often looked dangerous on the counter-attack, but creativity in tight spaces remained an area that required improvement.
That is one reason why the club have also been linked with attacking talents such as Julian Brandt during this transfer window.
Wilson, however, already appears ready to provide exactly the kind of attacking quality Leeds have been searching for.
The Welsh international finished last season with 11 goals and eight assists for Fulham despite the London side enduring an inconsistent campaign, numbers that highlight both his creativity and his ability to influence games in the final third.
His versatility further strengthens his appeal.
Comfortable operating on either flank, in the No.10 position or even slightly deeper in midfield, Wilson offers Farke multiple tactical options while adding the vision and attacking spark Leeds have sometimes lacked.
If he can reproduce those performances at Elland Road, supporters may soon understand why the club were so determined to secure his signature despite the delayed announcement.
