Celtic’s disastrous defeat to Falkirk has sparked another furious reaction from supporters, with one particularly outspoken fan calling for Martin O’Neill and his entire coaching staff to leave the club immediately.

The 2-0 defeat at the Falkirk Stadium has left the Hoops facing uncomfortable questions about their performances, tactical organisation and direction under O’Neill.

What was supposed to be another opportunity to strengthen their position at the top of Scottish football instead became an afternoon of embarrassment for the reigning champions.

However, the anger has gone beyond the result itself. For some supporters, the problems at Celtic have been building for much longer, and they believe the current coaching setup is no longer capable of taking the club forward.

One fan has now made his feelings unmistakably clear, insisting that O’Neill should not be the only person held responsible for the team’s struggles.

Celtic fan demands entire coaching staff leave Parkhead

In a lengthy statement shared after the Falkirk defeat, the supporter called for O’Neill, Shaun Maloney, Stephen McManus and Mark Fotheringham to leave Celtic.

The fan began by explaining that he had deliberately waited before expressing his frustration, believing it was important to allow the emotions surrounding the match to settle.

However, after reflecting on the performance, his position remained unchanged.

“ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. THE ENTIRE COACHING TEAM HAS TO GO.

“I deliberately chose not to post directly after today’s game because football is an emotional game, and sometimes it’s better to let the dust settle before having your say.

“But having had time to reflect, my opinion hasn’t changed. For me, it’s done. Martin O’Neill, Shaun Maloney, Stephen McManus and Mark Fotheringham all have to go.”

The supporter made it clear that his frustration was not simply a reaction to one disappointing afternoon against Falkirk.

Instead, he believes Celtic’s performances have been unacceptable throughout O’Neill’s return, arguing that the club’s problems have been allowed to continue without meaningful improvement.

Supporter questions how Celtic won the league

One of the most striking parts of the statement was the fan’s assessment of Celtic’s previous title success.

He dismissed the argument that winning the league should automatically protect O’Neill from criticism, claiming that Celtic benefited from the struggles of their rivals rather than demonstrating overwhelming superiority.

“We have been absolutely abysmal since Martin O’Neill returned, and before anyone jumps in with ‘but we won the league’, let’s be completely honest about how we won it.

“We scraped over the line by the skin of our teeth against an extremely poor Rangers side and a Hearts team who, in my opinion, weren’t much better. Had Hearts not completely imploded, that league title was gone. Had their away form been even remotely respectable, I genuinely don’t believe we’d have won it.”

Those are particularly strong words from a supporter who clearly believes Celtic’s underlying problems have been overlooked because of the success achieved in the title race.

The fan also questioned the quality of football being produced, arguing that the team lacks the organisation and identity expected of a club with Celtic’s ambitions.

“We are NOT a good football team, and we haven’t been for a very long time.”

Nostalgia is no longer enough for Martin O’Neill

The supporter also acknowledged the emotional significance of O’Neill’s return to Celtic.

The experienced manager remains a hugely respected figure among sections of the support because of what he achieved during his previous spell at Parkhead.

However, the fan believes those memories should not influence decisions about the club’s future.

“The nostalgia of Martin O’Neill returning was brilliant. Seeing a man who gave us so many incredible memories back in the dugout was special, and nobody can ever take away what he achieved at this football club.

“But nostalgia doesn’t win football matches, and sentiment cannot be allowed to dictate the future of Celtic Football Club.”

He went further, suggesting that the performances have deteriorated rather than improved, with no clear tactical identity emerging under the current coaching setup.

“The nostalgia is gone. The performances are getting worse, the football is getting worse, and we are going backwards at an alarming rate.”

The supporter subsequently described Celtic as the worst-coached team in the league, criticising what he sees as a lack of consistent playing patterns, organisation and recognisable style.

Calls for a complete Celtic reset

Perhaps the most significant part of the statement was the insistence that replacing O’Neill alone would not be sufficient.

The supporter wants the entire coaching structure changed, naming Maloney, McManus and Fotheringham alongside the manager.

He believes Celtic require fresh ideas, a different approach and a coaching team capable of building a more organised side.

“I love Martin O’Neill for everything he has done for Celtic, but Celtic Football Club is bigger than Martin O’Neill, bigger than any individual and certainly bigger than nostalgia.

“Changing the manager alone while keeping the same coaching team isn’t the answer either. We need a complete reset, a fresh approach, fresh ideas and a coaching team capable of building a modern, organised football team.”

The fan ended his statement with an emphatic demand for immediate action rather than waiting until the January transfer window or the end of the campaign.

“We need a new project, a new direction and a complete change NOW.

“Not in January. Not at the end of the season. NOW.

“Because the longer we continue pretending everything will eventually fall into place, the more damage we are doing to our season.

“ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.”

O’Neill faces growing scrutiny after Falkirk defeat

The statement reflects the level of frustration being expressed by at least some sections of the Celtic support following the defeat.

O’Neill and his coaching staff are now facing increased scrutiny, particularly over the team’s tactical organisation and inability to produce consistent performances.

Celtic’s next challenge is the Europa League meeting with Beşiktaş, which offers the manager an immediate opportunity to respond on the pitch.

There is, however, no indication that the fan’s demand represents an official decision by the Celtic board to dismiss O’Neill or his coaching staff.

For now, the calls for a complete coaching overhaul remain the views of frustrated supporters rather than confirmed club plans.

Nevertheless, the message from this particular Celtic fan is unmistakable: he believes the time has come for O’Neill, Maloney, McManus and Fotheringham to leave Parkhead, with a completely new coaching project taking their place.
