Leeds United were among the clubs monitoring the Portuguese defender’s situation, while Everton had also been credited with interest in bringing him to England.
However, Romano reports that Leite’s representatives are now in advanced discussions with Al Diriyah, with negotiations progressing rapidly towards a full agreement.
The deal is understood to be entering its final stages, leaving the defender on the verge of completing a lucrative switch to Saudi Arabia despite earlier speculation linking him with the Premier League.
For Leeds, it means another potential option is slipping away as they continue working to reinforce their defence.
