Jack Butland has now shared an emotional farewell message to Rangers ahead of his expected move to Hull City, with the transfer believed to be worth around £3 million.
The experienced goalkeeper is set to return to English football after Rangers completed the signing of Ivor Pandur, whose arrival at Ibrox was officially confirmed by Derek McInnes’ side on Tuesday evening.
Taking to Instagram, the former England international reflected on his time in Glasgow and thanked everyone connected with the club.
He wrote:
“3 years ago I made a decision to join this great football club, with no hesitation, and I’m so glad that I did. While it’s been a rollercoaster, I’ve always tried to represent the club in the best way I can, both on and off the pitch, and I leave with great pride knowing that I truly gave the fans, the club, and my teammates my all.
“To the fans that followed us everywhere, you are what makes this club so great. We created memories and atmospheres all over Europe, and the sound of Ibrox in full voice will stay with me forever.
“This is only goodbye for now. You’ve created a family of lifelong Rangers fans, once a Ranger, always a Ranger, me and my family will always be that.
“Thank you.”
Butland joined Rangers in 2023 after leaving Crystal Palace and quickly established himself as one of the club’s most dependable performers.
Across three seasons, he amassed more than 150 appearances and played a key role during several memorable European nights, earning the respect of teammates and supporters alike.
Although his next chapter now awaits with newly-promoted Hull City, his farewell makes it clear that Rangers will always hold a special place in both his and his family’s hearts.
His departure marks the end of an important spell at Ibrox, but judging by his closing words, the connection between Butland and Rangers is far from over. For many supporters, he leaves not just as a former goalkeeper, but as another player who fully embraced what it means to wear the famous blue shirt.
