With Struijk entering the final two years of his current contract, Leeds were facing the possibility of seeing the Dutch defender edge closer towards free agency if no agreement could be reached over fresh terms.
Although the Whites were keen to keep him at the club, the player is understood to have decided that now is the right moment to pursue a fresh challenge elsewhere.
His departure will bring an end to an impressive eight-and-a-half-year spell in West Yorkshire.
Having joined from Ajax’s academy system, the 26-year-old developed into one of Leeds United’s most dependable defenders, making 196 senior appearances across all competitions.
