Celtic have confirmed the exit of Luis Palma – five days after Lech Poznan announced him as their player.
The Honduran winger has now completed his permanent switch to the Polish side, following Lech Poznań’s decision to activate their option to buy after a successful loan spell.
Palma contributed 12 goals and eight assists across his campaign in the Ekstraklasa, a return that proved decisive in convincing the Polish champions to push ahead with a permanent deal, despite earlier suggestions they may struggle to meet the financial terms.
Lech Poznań initially confirmed the agreement on June 3, with Celtic now following up with their own official announcement via their Facebook page to formally complete the transfer.
Their statement read: “Celtic FC can confirm that Luis Palma has joined Lech Poznan. Best of luck and thank you, Luis.”
Following the confirmation, Lech Poznań sporting director Tomasz Rzasa offered further insight into the club’s thinking behind making the move permanent.
“The loan agreement with Celtic FC included an option to buy, so the decision was entirely in our hands from the outset,” Rzasa told club media.
“We are pleased to confirm that on Wednesday, June 3rd, we exercised the clause and Luis Palma will be a part of our squad until June 30th, 2029.
“Naturally, we cannot disclose the exact figures involved, but I can confirm that this is the highest transfer fee in the club’s history.”
He further explained the reasoning behind the deal, adding: “It was impossible to overlook Luis’ performances.
“He settled into the team very quickly and consistently delivered quality on the pitch, a fact that was reflected in his statistics.
“We remained calm throughout the speculation surrounding his future because we knew we held all the cards. After reviewing the season, we decided to make the move permanent.
“We hope Luis’ excellent form continues and that he helps us from the very start of the new campaign, especially in the upcoming UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
“We are working hard to ensure we have the strongest possible squad in place ahead of the pre-season.”
With the deal now fully confirmed from both sides, Palma’s chapter at Celtic comes to an official close as the club continue shaping their squad for the challenges ahead.
