NafisaScottish Premiership champions Celtic are ready to begin negotiations to sign Brøndby midfielder Benjamin Tahirović, according to reports in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Martin O’Neill guided the Glasgow side to a league and cup double after having two interim spells in charge during the 2025-26 campaign. Celtic are now searching for their next manager as they finalise plans for the summer transfer window.

The Hoops won their final five matches of the season to edge out Hearts to the title and, with it, secured a place in the final round of the Champions League qualification play-offs.
Their summer transfer activity could be shaped by their ability to reach the league phase of the 2026-27 Champions League. Competing in Europe’s elite club competition would make them a more attractive destination for transfer targets while also providing a huge financial boost.

According to Bosnian outlet Sport Sport, Celtic are prepared to begin discussions to sign 23-year-old Tahirović.
They are ‘preparing a strong financial offer’ in an attempt to complete the move, with several clubs reportedly interested in the player.
FC Porto and Old Firm rivals Rangers are two teams named as admirers, but the report from Bosnia claims Celtic are currently the frontrunners to secure his signature.
The 26-cap Bosnian international remains under contract with Brøndby for another two years and the Danish side are willing to remain patient if they decide to sell him this summer.
The 6ft 3in powerhouse joined the club in February 2025 and has since made 49 appearances, scoring once. He previously had spells with Ajax and AS Roma.
Benjamin Tahirović’s World Cup displays could impact deal:
The World Cup could complicate Celtic’s pursuit of the player, however.
Bosnia qualified for the World Cup through the UEFA play-offs after defeating Wales and Italy on penalties to secure their place at the tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
Tahirović started both of those play-off fixtures and is expected to play a major role for Bosnia this summer as they face Canada, Qatar and Switzerland in Group B.
Brøndby are willing to delay opening talks with Celtic because they believe the midfielder’s value could increase further if he impresses at the World Cup.
Bosnia are well positioned to reach the knockout stage. Switzerland are favourites to finish top of the group while Bosnia or Canada are expected to battle for second place.
The eight best third-placed teams will also qualify for the knockout rounds, giving sides like Bosnia a strong opportunity to advance beyond the group stage.
