NafisaCeltic pushed hard to sign Frosinone winger Fares Ghedjemis during the January transfer window. His choice to turn down the switch has now proven to be the right one.

Frosinone general manager Pietro Doronzo has spoken to Radio Sportiva about the club’s return to Serie A. Ghedjemis’ situation was discussed directly, with the Italian appearing thankful the winger decided against leaving despite receiving a major opportunity.
He said – relayed by Tuttomercatoweb: “In January, there was a real possibility that Ghedjemis would leave: Celtic had made a very significant offer. President Stirpe, despite knowing how crucial he was to us, wanted to consult the boy, reiterating that Frosinone is not a prison.”
Doronzo then revealed exactly how the player responded, and how that decision has ultimately been rewarded.
“The player responded clearly: “I want to stay here to win the championship.” It was a risk to turn down that offer, but the President’s courage and the boy’s determination were rewarded. Today, Ghedjemis’ value has doubled, and his performances have been crucial to our climb up the ladder.”
Celtic opportunity may now be gone:
Fares Ghedjemis’ stance effectively ended Celtic’s hopes of landing the 23-year-old Algerian, who has now elevated himself to another level entirely.
Doronzo has openly admitted that the winger’s market value has doubled, something that could now place him firmly on the radar of Premier League and Serie A clubs, particularly with the World Cup offering another platform to impress on the international stage.
Ghedjemis is already part of the Algerian national setup and looks well placed to carry this momentum into the summer window. That only makes Celtic’s chances of revisiting a move even slimmer, even if Frosinone eventually become willing to listen to offers.
