NafisaPolice have released CCTV photographs of 24 individuals as part of an ongoing probe into the violent disorder that erupted during the Scottish Cup Quarter Final at Ibrox.
Several supporters and police officers suffered injuries, while nine arrests were made after a pitch invasion followed Celtic’s dramatic penalty shootout victory over Rangers on Sunday 8 March.
Officers are now appealing for help in identifying those featured in the images, urging anyone who recognises them, or believes they may know who they are, to come forward and contact police.
Information can also be submitted directly to detectives through the Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) as inquiries continue.
In the aftermath of the match, Rangers moved quickly to “unequivocally” condemn the scenes of disorder, while Celtic stated that “examples of unacceptable behaviour” needed to be dealt with properly.
Both clubs faced criticism before releasing their statements, however, after Chief Constable Jo Farrell publicly questioned the lack of an immediate response.
Addressing the Scottish Parliament, Farrell stressed that stronger action was required to ensure supporters could attend football matches without concerns over safety.
The incidents at Ibrox later prompted the Scottish FA to launch an independent review into the matchday disorder, a move which received backing from both Celtic and Rangers.
In a statement following the announcement, the SFA said it hoped the investigation would “ensure no repeat” of the scenes witnessed that afternoon, adding that the events had “tarnished the image and reputation of the game.”
