Celtic beloved star has now made up his mind and confirmed in an Exclusive interview that he will be returning back to Parkhead for a second stint, set to complete his examinations next month amid Return Home

Victor Wanyama has revealed he has set his sights on a return to Celtic, this time in a coaching capacity, as he prepares to complete the next stage of his qualifications and move into a new phase of his career.

The former Hoops favourite confirmed in an exclusive interview that a second spell at Parkhead is firmly on his mind, with the midfielder currently working through his coaching badges and due to sit his UEFA A Licence exams next month, having already completed his B Licence.

He has not featured for a club since quietly departing Dunfermline in the summer after signing a six month deal with Neil Lennon’s side, but his focus has now shifted toward life on the touchline.

“I have exams for UEFA A License next month.

“I have done my UEFA B and would love to start my coaching journey in Scotland with Celtic.

“Coaching is part of the things that are good for any footballer. Not everyone would want to coach but they can join anything related to the game.”

Wanyama also opened up on the managers who have influenced him most during his career, and his answer may come as a surprise to some.

“All the coaches that coached me, the likes of Mauricio [Pochettino] and also Ronald [Koeman]…

“I would say my last coach at Montreal. His name was Will, Wilfried Nancy. I’ve seen him grow as a coach, and he really, really taught me a lot.

“And from then, I was learning from him, and I saw I can also learn and make my own history, like what he has done for that club at that time.”

There is no denying Nancy brought a distinctive approach to his teams. In a different season, with a stronger group of players, it may have worked out differently for the coach.

There was a clear identity in his attacking philosophy, although the defensive side of the game often came under scrutiny.

Wanyama now appears fully focused on building his future in coaching, with a return to Celtic firmly in his plans once his qualifications are complete.

The path back to Parkhead may not be immediate, but his intentions are clear as he prepares for the next step.
