“Yeah it looks like it. Not yet, but he won’t be part of our squad tomorrow.” — Manager confirms talented ace to complete Crystal Palace January transfer move as agreementsl has been DONE with club

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has suggested that Romain Esse is on course to complete a loan move to Coventry City in the coming days.

Earlier in the week, Sky Sports News journalist James Savundra reported that the Sky Blues were close to wrapping up a deal for the 20-year-old attacker.

Glasner has since confirmed that Esse is likely to seal a switch to the Coventry Building Society Arena and has also ruled him out of Palace’s Premier League fixture against Aston Villa tomorrow night.

The FA Cup-winning boss said: “Yeah it looks like [it]. Not yet, but he won’t be part of our squad tomorrow.

“It’s better for him. We talked together. It’s finding the best environment for him as a player, to reignite his career.

“I still believe in his talent but I didn’t have the feeling that he brings to the team what we actually need, and that’s why I played for example [Christantus] Uche in front of him, when we needed a bit of physicality.

“Right now, his way of playing didn’t exactly what we needed at the moment. That’s why it’s better for him to go on loan and get more minutes and develop.

“He’s a good boy, with good talent, but I didn’t give him the minutes for his personal development.”

Esse is comfortable playing on either wing and can also operate in an attacking midfield role.

The youngster has featured just seven times for Palace in all competitions this season, including three appearances in the UEFA Conference League.

He joined the Eagles from Championship side Millwall in January last year after scoring seven goals in 66 outings for the Lions.

Esse was an unused substitute as Palace went on to win both the FA Cup and the Community Shield.

He also made an instant impact last season, scoring against Brentford with his very first touch in the Premier League for Palace.

Coventry are also believed to have reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to bring in winger Yang Min-hyeok on loan.
