Wrexham will come up against a summer transfer target in a Championship encounter this week.
The Red Dragons had an active 2025 summer window that saw 13 fresh signings completed.
Wrexham invested £33m to strengthen their squad, which featured the arrival of three additional midfielders.
Lewis O’Brien and George Thomason were recruited before Ben Sheaf’s £6.5m move from Coventry City on deadline day.
Before shifting their focus to Sheaf, however, Wrexham were chasing a player who has since joined Leicester City.

Wrexham meet Leicester in a Championship showdown on the evening of September 30.
The Welsh club are expected to line up against a player they had been eager to acquire this summer.
Former Birmingham City talent Jordan James appeared on Wrexham’s radar in August.
Phil Parkinson commented on pursuing James, describing him as a ‘good player’.
He said: “He’s a player we’ve looked at, also I know him from his time at Birmingham as well and followed his progress in the Welsh team and Rennes,” said Parkinson.
“Obviously (he’s) a good player, but he’s just one of a lot of players we’ve looked at over the last month or so.”
There were claims that Wrexham held talks over a £4.3m transfer for the ex-Blue.
However, late on September 1, Leicester announced the capture of James following interest from the Dragons.

Since arriving on deadline day, James missed the start of the 2025/26 Championship season.
The Welsh international made his first appearance for the Foxes off the bench on September 13 in a 2-2 draw with Oxford United.
He earned his first start for Leicester a week later, playing 69 minutes of a goalless draw with Coventry City.
Most recently, James featured for 45 minutes as an attacking midfielder in a 1-1 tie against West Brom.
