“…win a penalty” – Former English Premier League whistler Dermot Gallagher reacts to Rangers being CHEATED in the Glasgow Derby by the Referee as Bojan Miosvski Disallowed Penalty Shout Verdict Given

Sky Sports’ Ref Watch panel collectively concluded that Bojan Miovski should not have been awarded a penalty against Celtic on Sunday.

The Rangers forward went down in the penalty area early in the goalless draw. Although the incident was briefly reviewed, no spot-kick was granted.

Former English Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher supported the ruling by referee Don Robertson and VAR official Andrew Dallas to deny a penalty.

Speaking on Sky Sports News’ Ref Watch segment, Gallagher said: “I didn’t think it was a penalty.

“Scales was just too strong for him. He almost bounces off Scales, rather than the other way around.”

Former Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd concurred: “He does [get in front of Scales], but he’s looking for that,” he said. “You can see he’s clearly looking for that.

“That was a poor decision from him because if he takes a touch inside, he’s got a chance to score a goal.

“He’s trying to win a penalty, he’s looking for it, and I don’t think that one is a penalty.”

Speaking right after the match, Scales himself provided his take on the incident.

The Celtic defender said [Sky Sports]: “I think VAR and everything, I don’t think it could’ve been [a penalty].”

“Even if the ref gave it, I think it would’ve been overturned.

“You could say it’s diving. He initiates contact, so he just has to be careful with that.”
