The Brisbane Broncos have suffered another blow to their roster, with Blake Mozer fracturing his jaw, and Corey Jensen reportedly dealing with a blood clot.

This comes as the club also confirmed Cory Paix has sustained an elbow injury and, while he has been included in the expanded squad to face the Gold Coast Titans this weekend, he is unlikely to participate.

Mozer’s absence causes the backup options to take a step back at the Broncos in the competition for the number nine position, with News Corp reporting the club is optimistic it’s not season-ending, but that he is likely to miss at least six weeks.

His injury coincides with Ben Hunt’s return, with the halfback and utility named to start at number nine this weekend, while Billy Walters stays on the bench.

It’s probable that, if the Broncos are at full strength, Paix and Walters are vying for a single spot on the bench to support Hunt as the team pushes for the finals.

Jensen, on the other hand, was a last-minute withdrawal last weekend with what was thought to be a calf injury, but the NRL Physio has since revealed he has experienced a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in his calf.

Blood thinners are the probable course of treatment for Jensen, which will hinder his ability to travel or engage in any contact activities.

It’s understood he will be sidelined for at least four to six weeks, though the exact duration of his absence remains uncertain.

Jensen, who is in his fourth season with the Broncos, has been a consistent member of the forward unit for the Red Hill-based team in recent years.
