Leicester City’s Boubakary Soumaré is entering the final year of his contract, and his long-term future remains unresolved. The midfielder has recently been linked with several clubs, including AS Roma and Sevilla.
On Monday, Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the Serie A outfit are weighing up a potential move for him in the winter window. Just two days earlier, AS revealed that Sevilla are planning to snap him up on a free transfer in January.
We previously explained that it’s improbable Leicester will cut short the midfielder’s deal midway through the campaign. Vamos Mi Sevilla FC have reinforced that stance in their latest update on the 26-year-old, titled: ‘Sevilla set day for Soumaré’s signing’.
The Frenchman spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan with the Andalusian side and was a regular feature in their lineup. However, their inability to reach a fresh agreement with the Foxes led to his return to the King Power Stadium.
Sevilla remain keen on bringing him back, and sources have informed the outlet that they hope to acquire the Leicester man on a free transfer next summer.
Roma and AS Monaco are also believed to have expressed interest in Soumaré. The report claims Sevilla ‘would count on the player’s interest’, noting that he was pleased with his previous spell there.
A January transfer hasn’t been completely dismissed. If Nemanja Gudelj departs Sevilla and Soumaré’s asking price falls to around €2–3m, then a mid-season move could still be on the cards.
