Crystal Palace could hand Brennan Johnson his first appearance as early as this weekend when they take on Newcastle.
Palace struck a £35million agreement to bring Johnson in during late December, but the move was dependent on the winger’s consent, which was given before Spurs’ New Year’s Day clash with Brentford.
The transfer moved a step closer to being finalised when Johnson was absent from the rest of the squad as they arrived at the Gtech Community Stadium, with an official confirmation following on Friday.
For Johnson to be cleared to make his Palace debut against Newcastle, he had to be registered by Friday’s 12pm cut-off.
A statement on the club’s official website said: “Johnson will be eligible to make his Palace debut against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.”
The Wales international will don the No11 shirt at Selhurst Park, and Oliver Glasner is pleased to have strengthened his attacking options.
“I’m really delighted that Brennan has joined the club,” the Palace head coach said. “He arrives very early in the window, so credit to the club for making this happen so quickly.
“Brennan will give us options in our attacking play with his pace and goalscoring ability and with all the upcoming games he will be a valuable addition to the squad.”
Johnson, who netted the decisive goal for Spurs in last season’s Europa League final victory over Manchester United, found opportunities limited under Thomas Frank during the first half of the campaign.
The attacker made just six Premier League starts, although he did find the net in each of his first two outings of the season.
