Leicester City have received a significant advantage ahead of Saturday’s 3pm match at Preston North End. The hosts’ pivotal midfielder, Mads Frokjaer, has been sidelined after sustaining an injury.
The Danish playmaker was substituted due to a groin issue during Tuesday’s Carabao Cup victory at Barrow, and although the injury is not severe, it has ruled him out of Saturday’s game at Deepdale.
The 25-year-old is a vital component for the Lancashire team. Preston manager Paul Heckingbottom told the Lancashire Post: “Mads will be out, which I expected straight away.
“Mads was pretty adamant that he didn’t think it was a significant one at the time, and the scans show that. But he won’t be fit for this weekend.
“He pulled up at the right time. He just felt something, was aware of it, went to play, said it was getting a bit easier, but then just stretched for a ball, literally just before he went down, and knew then.
“Again, any muscle injury is not going to get better during a game, so he came off. It was the right thing. I’m hoping he’s okay for the next game. I’m hoping next week.”
The Lilywhites are grappling with multiple injuries to key players ahead of the Leicester encounter. Robbie Brady, Jordan Thompson, Will Keane, Brad Potts, and Daniel Jebbison are all unavailable, while Liam Lindsay’s participation remains uncertain.
The statistics strongly support a win for Leicester, who began their season with a 2-1 home triumph over Sheffield Wednesday last week. Preston have failed to defeat them in their last five league encounters, dating back to September 2009.
