Crystal Palace completed the signing of forward Brennan Johnson from Tottenham on Friday after the Wales international found opportunities limited under Spurs boss Thomas Frank.
Palace confirmed they paid an undisclosed club-record fee, widely reported to be in the region of £35 million ($47 million).
The 24-year-old has agreed a deal running until the end of the 2029-30 season and will be available to make his Palace debut away to Newcastle on Sunday.
Johnson finished as Tottenham’s leading scorer last season with 18 goals in all competitions under Ange Postecoglou. He also struck the decisive goal in Spurs’ 1-0 Europa League final win over Manchester United. Tottenham had paid more than £47 million ($63 million) to Nottingham Forest to sign Johnson in 2023.
However, under Frank this campaign, Johnson saw his involvement reduced. He scored four times in 22 appearances for Spurs.
At international level, Johnson has netted seven goals in 42 outings for Wales.
“Brennan will give us options in our attacking play with his pace and goal-scoring ability and with all the upcoming games he will be a valuable addition to the squad,” Palace manager Oliver Glasner said in the club’s announcement.
Johnson was previously crowned Championship Young Player of the Season during Forest’s promotion-winning 2021-22 campaign and has amassed 42 caps for Wales, scoring seven goals on the international stage.
Spurs have now moved on their top scorer in each of the last three seasons, following Harry Kane’s switch to Bayern Munich in 2023 and Son Heung-min’s exit at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.

“His arrival bolsters our attacking options in what is proving our busiest season to date, competing on numerous fronts including, for the first time, in Europe.”
