Leicester City center-back Tom Wilson-Brown has finalized a season-long loan to League Two outfit Swindon Town.
The 20-year-old defender is set to experience his first taste of senior football with the Robins after an injury prevented him from doing so at Kilmarnock last season.
Signing a new City deal in January, Wilson-Brown traveled to Scotland to gain some exposure, but suffered an injury a few weeks in that sidelined him for the rest of the campaign.
Now he’s been given a new opportunity at senior football with Swindon, who are led by former City manager Ian Holloway.
Wilson-Brown told Swindon: “I’m thrilled. With ambitions of pushing for promotion, this is a fantastic opportunity. I want to get stuck in, contribute to the team, and help drive us forward.
“I spoke to lots of people about Swindon who told me it was a fantastic club with a huge ground, and I’m really excited to be a part of this next chapter.
“I’ve spoken to the manager, Ian Holloway, a couple of times, and he played a big factor in me joining the club; his vision, his experience, everything you could want in a manager, made me excited to be here and be part of this journey.”
A left-footed center-back, Wilson-Brown has stood out with his passing range at under-21 level over the past couple of years, and did so again in a brief appearance against OH Leuven this pre-season.
Just before his Kilmarnock loan, he was summoned to the first-team squad by Ruud van Nistelrooy and served as an unused substitute for the loss to Manchester City in December.
Wilson-Brown is the second young City player to depart on loan this summer, with midfielder Henry Cartwright having already notched three senior appearances at Falkirk.
